LibreOffice Vanilla is a powerful office productivity application consisting of Writer (word processing), Calc (spreadsheets), Impress (presentations), Draw (vector graphics and flowcharts), Base (databases), and Math (formula editing).
It can also open and edit text documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and drawings created in a large number of other applications like OpenOffice, Microsoft Office, Microsoft Visio, WordPerfect, Quattro Pro, Lotus 1-2-3, AutoCAD. Even documents created in historical applications such as MacWrite and ClarisWorks can be opened. LibreOffice Vanilla is based directly on the LibreOffice source code from The Document Foundation. It is recommended for users who want the convenience of installing from the App Store and getting automatic updates, compared to manually downloading and installing from The Document Foundation. Thank you for supporting LibreOffice by buying LibreOffice Vanilla. We donate 10% of the proceeds to The Document Foundation, and invest the rest into improving LibreOffice specifically for Mac users. (Note that features implemented in Java are not present.) Great in every respect except for Base
For people who want a hassel free LibreOffice solution on their Macintosh this is a good choice. Unofrtunately, if you are looking for Libreoffice Base to work ‘out of the box’ then you will be disappointed. This version does not come with something important for LibreOffice Base called HSQLDB. Without it you cannot create a database in the same way that you might do had you downloaded LibreOffice from the LibreOffice Foundation website. As this is the most important part of LibreOffice, working for a charity to develop a database solution, I will uninstall this and have to go to the Foundation website and download the version from there.
If you’re looking for a free option, similar to Microsoft Office, for word-processing, spreadsheets and slideshows then you will be happy with this product. I personally prefer Pages and Keynote (Numbers could do with having the query functionality of GoogleSheets). That said, LibreOffice does an excellent free database option. I am just disappointed that I wasn’t able to take advantage of this functionality through the download provided on the App Store through this provider.
Read in another language: Spanish Fresh Vanilla From today Mac users have a new and convenient way to install LibreOffice on OS X. Boot using the Same USB, in the clover menu select Installed Volume Mac. Download & Install Clover Bootloader. That's all; You are now with Hackintosh Mojave.
Brilliant Package
The headline says it all.
I am writing this review just to point out that most of the negative comments refer to an update a few months ago. Yes, it was buggey and very crashy. However, it was fixed in a couple of days and since then has continued to be a very complete, reliable alternative to MS Office. You won't be disappointed. Vanilla Mac Appmr
very good.
